UUID generator: random version 4 IDs in the format you need
Type 5000 into the count field and the tool gives you 1000 IDs, not an error. It is a UUID generator for version 4 identifiers, the kind Microsoft calls a GUID. You need one when a database row, a fixture or a config entry requires an ID before any server has handed one out. Your browser makes every ID, and no request goes to a server when you press Generate new. The list is already there when the page loads.
Four switches decide what each line looks like
- A default ID has 36 characters, for example
3b241101-e2bb-4255-8caf-4136c566a962. - Hyphens off gives 32 hex characters, which some systems store as they are.
- Windows and .NET code often wants the GUID look: upper case inside braces, as in registry entries and installer product codes.
- "Wrap each UUID in double quotes" wraps each line in double quotes. For 200 test users you paste once and add only the commas.
Limits you hit sooner than you expect
Only version 4 exists here. Versions 1 and 5 are missing, and so is the time-ordered version 7. A batch holds 1000 IDs at most. An empty or invalid count gives 1 ID.
The page keeps nothing. A reload or a switch change replaces the list, so copy it first. The tool never compares batches, which is fine with 122 random bits per ID. If crypto.randomUUID() is missing, as on pages without HTTPS, the tool builds the ID from crypto.getRandomValues() in the same format. Copy writes to the clipboard, and the uuids.txt file is built by the browser on your device.
Generate, copy, save
- Enter a number in "Number of UUIDs". The default is 5, the range 1 to 1000.
- Set the four switches: "Include hyphens" (on at the start), "UPPERCASE", "Curly braces" and "Wrap each UUID in double quotes".
- Press "Generate new" for a fresh batch. Changing the number or a switch does the same and drops the old IDs.
- "Copy all" fills the clipboard. ".txt download" saves the list as
uuids.txt.
